A. Duie Pyle heralds West Virginia expansion

Following a services expansion into Virginia earlier this year, West Chester, Penn.-based freight transportation and supply chain services provider A. Duie Pyle said this week it has now also expanded its service offerings into West Virginia.

Company officials said that expanding its supply chain services to strengthen routes and transport goods in West Virginia, increases its service commitment to shippers by expanding access to key areas and clients across the state. And they noted that by adding West Virginia to its service footprint, it completes the company’s Northeast/Mid-Atlantic core footprint.

“We are thrilled to expand our direct service coverage and industry-leading expertise into West Virginia,” said John Luciani, COO of LTL Solutions at A. Duie Pyle, in a statement. “Adding West Virginia to our network allows us to build stronger relationships with our customers and positions us to continue offering exceptional service to the entire Northeast.”

In an interview with LM, Luciani said there were various drivers for the company’s West Virginia expansion, citing how new and existing customer were asking for a reliable and award-winning LTL (less-than-truckload) solution into and out of West Virginia.

“Adding full state coverage in West Virginia had been a strategic initiative for Pyle, and as we have done with other geographic expansions through our 98 years in business, we let our customers guide us based on their service and quality needs,” he said. “Additionally, we have had an operational initiative in place over the past few years to reduce our reliance on final-mile cartage carriers in order to improve our customers’ Pyle supply chain experience.  Finally, a review of industry data for shipments moving into and out of West Virginia zip codes provided the last bit of support to move forward by providing full state delivery and pick-up service by the Pyle team.”

Prior to this expansion, Luciani said that Pyle did very little inbound and outbound business for the state of West Virginia.

“After expanding our direct service offering into the Commonwealth of Virginia in April 2022, it made perfect sense to add West Virginia and complete our network expansion to include comprehensive coverage to all of the states in the Northeast, including West Virginia,” he said.

As for the biggest benefits of this expansion for the company's shipper customers, Luciani observed that the key benefit is shipments tendered to Pyle will be delivered by Pyle People on Pyle equipment.

“Maintaining control of the shipment from origin to destination will improve the quality of the delivery experience for Pyle shippers and consignees,” he noted. “Providing full state coverage in West Virginia completes Pyle’s Northeast direct delivery service footprint. In addition to adding new Pyle customers through the expansion, we will be adding new Pyle team members, additional equipment, and network infrastructure to support this expanded service offering.”
